After the jump.....
Just in case....
Can anyone tell me why Vettel pitted under the safety car when he already pitted once and the only guy ahead of him had to pit? Was he on a two stop strategy?

Vettel was on much worse tires. The Softs he was on, had some wear and he would lose a lot on the restart. For some reason the softer compounds were performing amazingly. Ferrari made mistake to even bring him. Lewis was absolutely struggling on the Softs so they should have played the cat and mouse game with Mercedes and continue pushing the SS.

I think he was hoping to gain some speed on the ultra soft tyre. H e could have easily driven to the end on the softs, but the safety car allowed him to pit, without losing much time.

Because he lost all of the heat in his soft tires

He could have stayed out and gotten the lead from Bottas but then he would have had Bottas immediately behind him on brand new Ultrasofts which are much faster then the worn Softs Vettel was on. By coming in he matched the tires on Bottas’ car without giving up any track position.

Kimi was complaining that he couldnt get any temp into the softs, which is the tire Vettel pitted for the first time. Given everyone would have likely taken the free pitstop anyways, they would have likely switched back to the ultrasofts to cover off hamilton.
